cheques
OK dont know if this is just me who sees this time after time for events all over the country asking for payment by cheque. I do not have a cheque book as to my knowledge not many people still own personal cheque books and shops do not accept cheques so why in todays day and age are we expected to pay for events by a cheque?????
for me to get a cheque would cost adding to the cost of racing at an event which puts me off entering events surely clubs and those organising these events can come up with a way to get payment for events in a more modern and cost effective way |
When a cheque clears, it goes direct into actual bank account, unlike paypal which requires a commision to be transfered to a bank account, a clubs bank account for example. I have personally used paypal to pre-book though, so clearly up to the club.

Would a chq book not be free? I have one that I use for certain things and it doesn't cost me?

I have both a personal and a business cheque book, I must say I don't use my personal one very often but why not just pay cash?

cheques
a cheque takes 5 working days to clear into an account where as an electronic transfer is done within 24 hours.
very few banks now issue personal cheque books as they are very few people who use them its cheaper for a bank and easier to pay electronically now but yet you look at an event and they ask for a cheque. If clubs and event organises offered the ability to pay by other methods surely would be better for all |
I presume some clubs are put off PayPal from bad experiences.
Not sure what club or event but someone paid by PayPal and had a bad race so when they got home they opened a dispute and got their money back. Must have paid as goods, but hardly fair on the organiser. |
