DB01 Baldre - parts questions

First kit, deposit down,, two payments to go... I can hardly wait! :D

Going to be fittinng some hop-up parts nearly right from the start (front/rear aluminium shock towers), but I'd like to get some 501X diff halves.

I cannot find the part number, though! Anyone know this?

don't bother with alloy shock towers, go for alloy suspension holders, front CVD style driveshafts, slipper clutch and 501X diff halves for the rear.

cloakable 16-12-2008 01:31 PM

Will do :)

Isn't there a problem with the regular plastic shock towers breaking, though?

Also, by 'alloy suspension holders' do you mean the aluminium suspension block (54039)?

jimmy 16-12-2008 01:34 PM

I've never broken one :woot:

cloakable 16-12-2008 01:47 PM

Didn't you mod your wing further back, though? :P

jimmy 16-12-2008 01:54 PM

no, my wings are all cut to sit on the tower. putting it slightly further back might well help - but I've been on my roof plenty of times and not had any problems.

DCM 16-12-2008 02:09 PM

I got four DB-01's. and the only rear shock tower we have broke, is a 3Racing one....

cloakable 16-12-2008 02:20 PM

Ah, okay.

Might still eventually grab the aluminium shock towers for the bling factor, though :)

dimblum 16-12-2008 05:53 PM

Tough shock towers

Agreed. I have been racing my Durga for months and have never broken the stock shock towers. They are seriously strong!

Ouch, how?

DCM 16-12-2008 11:15 PM

there is far less give in alloy than plastic, so as you land upside down, ALL the shock is transfered to the gearbox tops, rather than some flex absorption by plastic or even Carbon Fibre towers.

cloakable 17-12-2008 12:00 AM

Ah, ouch.

sim 17-12-2008 03:39 AM

Also, alloy shock towers are passe.

Grabbed four 8x5x2.5 ballraces today :)

£1 each! Quite reasonable, IMO.

Have you tried the new one in Filton Avenue by the Post Office?

It wasn't open when I went past the other day but looked to have a large stock of stuff!
