Building a race rig

Just putting together a novice race rig ,wonder what i should concentrate on getting before racing in September . Currently /already bought
Pit box/carry case - regular plastic storage box with lid .
Car stand rotating .
Pit tray .
Basic assorted tools and rechargeable drill.
Bearing blaster and solution
Ac/dc charger for standard and Lipo
12 leisure battery and also inverter (both ways )
solder iron and solder various gauge wires and connectors
Spares are zero , i plan to get suspension arms F and R also Turbuckles drive shafts and body mounts .
Of course wet weather /dry tyres i just aim to finsh the days racing whilst getting consistent laps rather than podiums any advice on anything i have missed would be great ,thanks in advance and apologies if it seems tedious to seasoned vets .Best regards Trev( Big Trev racing)

what class are you racing?

fidspeed 09-07-2015 08:00 AM

you look to have got most items well under control

major items missing

flask and butties
bucket load of patience and enthusiasm
seriously though when you start to race look at what the local guys have/use/need more than likely they will all try to help as we are always short of newcomers to the hobby

good luck for september ( choose a car that has good spares and back up reputation all the major players wil be ok ask the locals where you intend to race most its a good pointer

regards dave

I Wanted to race SCT , but being based in Skipton N Yorks - looks like i would have to travel too far ? . I am dead keen on SCt so if the ice man goes ahead at A1 - i will do that over winter and SCT Nationals if it runs in 2016 ? If not i will look for a 1 :10 electric buggy and take it from there . The wife will not be happy though i just shelled out on a new SCT ?#shouldofdonemorereasearch:(

Cullingworth Village Hall (10electric) race 10th buggy on alternate Friday's Nori is very welcoming and most of the drivers there race on Sunday at either Batley or Bury, I turned up to watch 5ish years ago and I've been racing ever since, and maybe 1 of them will know about any local sct, strangely enough there's already a Trevor from Skipton who races there.

Aye, i went to see Nori at 10 electric last Friday, lovely man , i might take him up on the offeror helping me ring a second hand 2wd , my heart is set on SCT so i will explore all options . 10 electric looked a very friendly and family vibe i liked it a lot .Thanks .
