Hi guys,

we race outdoors on astro and the car is absolutely great to drive, but indoors on carpet i tend to lose the back end, i was wondering do any of you run sway bars? A guy I know said to get one and it will make the car turn flatter and stop the rear stepping out so much

Ive just started running one on mine at maritime and am liking it a lot.

Am really naming the medium stiffness one, which I think is white, but don't have the car in front of me to check.

It's worth getting the set and trying the different ones out to suit how you drive. It'll depend on the track and your car set up as well as to what stiffness will work the best.

I've used them a few times. Always seemed pretty good on a carpet track. I ran the green set the last time I used it indoors at Torbay.

On astro, they work well if there isn't a lot of sand or if the track is fairly smooth and has a lot of grip. I found it caused more trouble when the track is uneven.

Just trial and error really. Like everything else lol :thumbsup:

should arrive today, ill fit it and report back, Friday is indoor carpet/foam tyres then we are at Bury Metro sunday, ill see how it goes for both

I ran one at the oOple round at Bury a few weeks back. Seemed pretty good. Bury is pretty flat compared to the Mendip track, so it worked for me :) Good luck for Friday and the weekend!!

Thanks for the input, ill try the middle bar 1st, go from there.. just a side question - what toe in/out are you running upfront?

0 degrees in/out on mine.

raced my b5m with sway bar...Most laps ive ever done was 15... i beat that and got 16... ste Spencer then set my camber and toe... smashed the B final with 17 laps... absolutely loved how the car handles, slight understeer when powering out of corners is exactly as I like it :) see how it is at bury tomorrow

What one did you use in the end?

used the white one... think that's the middle one... they're not labelled very well... but took it as green soft... white medium... Blue hard... as per springs

hwy gupz... used the same setup on astro... white sway bar. I made it into B final, started 7th came 7th after a long time in 4th and getting squashed between 2 cars but the car felt good apart from quite a lot of on power understeer... literally had to roll round corners... any amount of throttle sent me really wide. I'm new to this really and not sure how to combat understeer... and ideas?

I used the no.4 inserts in the steering blocks.
The brass off set caster bushes with the thick ones at the bottom.
I also change the front tyres quite regularly.
30 degree brass associated bulk head.
0 degree caster inserts.
red springs on the shocks.
32.5wt associated oil.
3 x 1.4mm hole tapered pistons.

It's a great car, but I have found that you kinda need to find a set up that suits your driving style and stick with it regardless of track.

The only things I change now are the springs when I go to different tracks. Harder springs if the track is smooth. softer springs if it;s bumpy.

Same thing on the rear end except.....
4x1.4mm hole tapered pistons. 30wt associated shock oil.
I use the black rear springs if it's bumpy and uneven. green if it's a smooth track and yellow if it's indoor.

Do you use the blue FT hinge pin braces?
3+2 inserts seem to work for me.
I also use the +2mm side on the rear ball stud mount and have a 2mm shim to stop the rear end of the car rotating too much in mid to end corner or under slow sharp turning.

10k oil in the diff (if it's a gear diff) works a treat!

That's all just my opinion though....I'm sure other will have theirs lol

I raced the regional at Southport yesterday

car drove really flat and well except exiting corners I had huge understeer, ended up taking the sway bar off and massively improved. It just didnt work as well as it does at ribble and Bury.

Im going to try the lighter one on friday and sunday.

i really want to try the weighted bulkhead,

Try straight wishbones with the roll bars.

would that give me more exit streering?

I just found them a lot better, the wheels seem to grip up a lot better compared to the gull wing wish bones.
