CAT rebuild

I still have my old CAT, was my first real competition grade car, thought it was about time it got some love and a rebuild/update, would like to do a few meetings at our indoor track just to see how she stands up against the current crop.

Ha ha....fancy seeing you on here Damon  Spotted Adrian on here too. Pity you didn't have this ready for the Vintage Nats next weekend but I'm sure there will be more vintage racing soon.

Nice!

I think I have settled on doing what I would call a 'hotrod' build for this, keep it looking virtually stock but replacing a lot of the original parts with new reproductions with minor improvements, for instance I am going to cnc up new gearbox alloy plates, also tossing up the idea of substituting the stock plastic gearbox cases with molded carbon versions.

Stripped the old girl down tonight.

Bosscat slipper and layshaft/pulleys, also the rear diff appears to be a 1 piece alloy unit

We were quite lucky back in the day Justin our local importer brought in a lot of option parts for us to spend money on

fathead 19-04-2015 11:13 AM

Just looking it seems front diff is alloy as well, so I have a matching set.:woot:

I was clueless when I bought this when I was maybe 14-15yrs old, so end of the 80's I guess, lucky I kept it!

Pretty!

I think I will take a pattern off the front towers while I have it apart and cnc up some delrin ones and keep the originals in a box for safe keeping
