Schumacher K1 Aero Motor Forward Update
Just popped onto the Schumacher site and seen this upgrade !
http://www.racing-cars.com/pp/New_Ca...ero/U4718.html Is there any pics around of the new setup ! And the shortie setup sounds interesting!! |
Looks interesting. Wonder if they will sell it as a Cat K2 Aero.

What ever next

It looks like the conversion kit has a carbon chassis but the Polish kid Mikael was asking for a alloy chassis when he tried it as he thought the carbon chassis was flexing too much for indoor carpet. I wonder if they've gone for a compromise and use the carbon chassis to help make the car work in lower grip tracks?
It will be interesting to see how this goes, shortie sounds good if you can fit the speedo on the other side of the chassis. |
They went for carbon as Schumacher can cut it in house, rather than outsourcing an alloy run to China. So a quicker product prototype, test and to market. Plus Schumacher will get to sell the chassis at least twice, first the carbon kit, then the alloy later on when the alloy product run lands and the "team" are running them over the carbon, and then multiple times to those unfortunate club racers who have a crash and break or bend them...

Factory team upgrades! What other team offers that in such a short space of time.....
Well done Schumacher! |

Nobody forces you to buy , take your choice. Another option to try . |
Main question is there any pics of this fitted to a car ?

Looks interesting thanks for sharing the pics as I now understand. I like the steering mod I wonder if I can just fit that and drill the chassis. Has anyone weight it the standard one is nicely balanced I wonder if it needs weights. I have invested in saddles and will have to wait a little for this don't think my driving warrents it yet either. The car isn't the problem

Thank you Mark and Dan.

What's the advantage of the SV2 rear wishbones?
|
The SV2 wishbones give you more scope for wheelbase adjustments and a third hole to mount the shocks.
I would if thought the best way for the install would be to have the electrics on the opposite side as the motor so then you can get better balance? I see from the two installs in the pictures above the speedos are on the same side as the motto, sure makes for a neater wiring but wouldn't this make the car unbalanced left to right? |
pictures I posted is of trish neals car, one of schumachers r and d employees

What is the ref of the captured ball ends on the steering turnbuckles? I'm always popping that end of the link! I need that part! Edit: found it. It's SCHU728 M3 rose joint. |
Any one running this setup? Thoughts?
|
I've seen Lloyd Storey run this setup, and I think Richard Ralph has too but I've not tried it myself yet as the kit is out of stock at the moment.
Lloyd was certainly quick around Silverstone but I don't know what he thought of the setup. Sounds good to me though as I already run shorties in my KF :) Wingers |
