Saddle packs in bx

Has anyone tried any other saddle packs in a standard bx, other than the Trakpower 3200s.
Or has anyone managed to fit the 4800 in a standard car.?

I've been working on this in theory anyway.

The Trakpower 4800 is 1.2" tall, and the most I can see fitting under the rear topdeck is 1.0". The SMC saddle packs are right at 1.0", so they SHOULD fit. I have an original BX with a one piece chassis, and I made a spacer for where the rear topdeck screws to the rear bulkhead. In stock form the front of the rear topdeck has 1.0" of clearance, but there is less in the rear. After the spacer is in place you might need to grind a little for belt clearance.

I haven't tried one of the packs yet, but it should fit. I think the bigger problems is how to add the weight back. There is very little room to add weight.

I tried the SMC lipos last weekend in my BX Non-Worlds. They fit with the rear top deck in the stock location. You'll have to shim the battery posts, though.

Use carbon fiber braces and standoffs from Diggity Designs. There are no mods needed. The SMC packs should be the hot setup.

really? would be cool, they state on their page that you have to move the
belt tensioner ... was wondering where to

does anyone have pics of them in the car?

I don't use the belt tensioner in either my standard BX, or on the BX Worlds car. On the standard BX the rear of the rear top deck is a little bit lower than the front, so some of the packs are slightly too tall. You can shim the rear mount a little to gain enough room. The Worlds car has all kinds of room if you don't use the tensioner.

I fit 5000mah packs in my BXF.
The rear topdeck had to be shimmed up by 2mm.
This resulted in the rear belt making contact with the topdeck.
Some filing of the top deck addressed this issue.

Unfortunately, raising the battery post resulted in the battery strap being too tall and the upperdeck is in the way.
I wil be repositioning the front battery posts soon.
