Lengthening dogbones...

Is it possible?

Has anyone ever done it?

What's the best grade of steel to use?

Ta.

You can cut and sleeve existing ones, using aluminium or steel and the appropriate grade of Loctite. Or weld it. Or make from scratch. I've sleeved a few in my time, works fine.

Yes it's possible. You need some good adhesive like araldite and some sturdy tubing material. If done correctly it will work just fine. Dave Burton does them for the rudebits cars too a more serious extent and drills them and puts pins in them I believe but you can do it yourself.

Cheers for that boys.

I work for a fabrication firm,so a weld job if needs be should be possible.

lenghened and shorteded them several times. get a block of wood, cut a groove so that driveshaft parts can be press fitted into it to ensure you get good alignment, and attack the joint with your welder, then grind the lumps off, works a treat!!
