Hi peeps, sorry for what is probably a silly question but I need to replace the wire in one of my spektrum recievers. Can I pinch a bit of an old 27mhz reciever I have laying about and does it need to be a specific length? Ta very much.

It's called an aerial, and most of the spektrum ones seem to be clipped onto the circuit board, so you can buy replacements.
Just sticking a bit of wire on might work, but more likely it won't. Length is less critical than it used to be, but it can still cause issues. New aerials aren't expensive either.

All my spectrum micro servos are normal wire and I replace them as and when needed. Just get some from Maplin.

I think he's on about the antenna wire, as its 2.4 ghz it's actually the small exposed section on the end that's the antenna itself. The exposed length is critical to maintain a good signal

2.4ghz receivers have two types of antenna wire, some use just a single wire same as an fm or even older am receiver, some others use a dual core co-ax cable, the dual core co-ax type is a 2 pin round plug fitment onto the circuit board, the single wire type are soldered in a through hole in the circuit board:)
