Noo fangled LiPo and old skool lectrix

Right knowledgeable peepoles:),

The time has come to go with the newer magic:o.

Looking at a 4000mah 7.4v 2S Zippy hardcased Lipo to go in my
Mardave Cobra-ish:)

My question is(I'm running brushed),can I bung one straight in with my
old brushed ESC(Mtroniks HF 250 fwd/brake)?
It's limit is (IIRC)15 turn motors.

I've seen old posts on here where peeps have run Lipo power in their old
RC10's,etc with their old skool brushed gear with great pleasure in blabbing
on how they've kept up with newer brushless machinery.

I'm going to order the above Lipo,a charger with storage voltage function,
LiPo charge bag and low voltage alarm, but I don't want to fry my classic
old speedo or have to shell out for a newer brushed speedo that won't handle my motors:cry:.

Ta.

dont know about that particular speedo, but i havent had any problems running lipo on old gear, only thing i do is plug an indicator into the lipo so that i dont over discharge them as the old speedo's dont have low voltage cutoff

nearly forgot....... drop a tooth or two on the pinion as well, as lipo is higher voltage!!

Cheers Dodgy.

I'm going to get a low volt alarm,I heard LiPo's do not like
being run down to dump voltage.

TKS for the advice on the pinion too,I already run a 19 tooth
on a 19turn Komodo Dragon,so throttle response is pretty good
even on an old 1900 Nicad.

The old mtroniks speedos could take a fair hammering, had a 750 donkeys years ago that out lived many more expensive speedos and kept coming, going to be running an old lrp quantum in my new 22-4 along with a trinity d6 12s motor and 5000mah lipo cells, will see how it goes until the time comes when I get something suitably insane, thinking 7.5t brushless.
