Servo for vintage car
I need a servo for my vintage car on the cheap. In true period style I was thinking of getting an old Futabe 148 or the old equivilent acoms and hot wiring it like we used to do back in the day.
Now I'm 100% happy doing this to a 148 or acoms because I know it used to work, but can you do it to anything else? I once did it to a Hitec and it went up in smoke. Does anyone have an old 148 I could swap for a packet of crisps (your choice of flavour) ? Dan |

hiya dan i dont have a servo but i have a moldy jar of coffee some one brought into work, and there selling it cheap. or will excahnge for 4 packets of crisps as you say dan. youre choice ;) so ur going old school electronics too then ?. even speedo and motor ? cheers garry ;) |
As it happens I dispise both the smell and taste of coffee!
We run sealed can 20T motors which in honesty are miles slower than even a half decent 27T stock. I'm hoping to get an old Tekin from somewhere, like a 410S or 411G or something. Receiver will have to be a trusty KO though as am not planning on jacking in my Vantage for anyone! Dan |
ahhhh full on old school then lol go dan :).
should be interesting to see how some one on a higher level can show how the old cars perform in the right hands over the newer cars . . |
I have both Tekin 411G and FP-S148 servos... the only "issue" is that I'm from Spain... otherwise... they will be yours.
The 411G has a burned FEt, but the servos are in good condition if you want a better servo I also have Futaba S9301. I sold my old Lazer ZXR a few months ago. |
Rumiging through my old bits ive got a tekin 411p and a 148 in my pro-cat, thats taken on the roll of a shelf queen.
Sitting in the garage somewhere in a box ive got a lazer zx roller just needs shock seals and a bit of tlc. Must admit i do like the sound of this vintage series, a bit of nostalger is what we need! Only thing is you'd be scared to race then incase you total it , then you got a hell of a job trying to find spares. |
You should have seen them around the twisties at York the other week - total dedication and no fear of breakage!
|
Yeah I was full on commitment on the polished :)
I don't think the old cars break as much to be honest. The plastic is much more robust, rather than stiff like the new stuff, there is also more of it around all the hinge pins and stuff. Alberto, if you're giving that old radio gear away I'll more than happily cover whatever postage costs are to the UK :) I reckon I could get the speedo fixed which would be great! |
The Tekin 411? How will you cover the postage? You cannot send anything to be paid at destiny from here.
