Hubsan x4

Hi guys,

Santa got me a little Hubsan x4, had a little go in the living room and the battery life is not great (not basing this off experience as never had a quad copter before) I just wanted to know if there is an alternative lipo I could buy and also would I charge it via the USB cable like the stock lipo ?
Cheers
Stu

I bought 6 of these:

http://www.hobbyking.co.uk/hobbyking...arehouse_.html

They've been very good. I'd imagine you can charge them on your USB charger. I'm not sure what rate it charges them but they're only 20Mah more than the supplied lipo. I always charge mine on my main buggy lipo charger.

+1
I bought 3 of these off eBay and charge them on my core-rc charger.
Give you a little longer flight time

Cool, thanks for the link, will order some of them up :)

What settings do you charge on via core charger longman?

Lipo charge 0.2 is what I charge them on, battery connectors are the same as
Losi micro t, if you need to make a loom up. And I think you have to swap the pos and neg over on the connector.

as regards the Husban X4, does anyone on here repair and setup them up?

I've had the series 1 model flew rather well till friend had his hands on it hit the wall cracked the casing. So I've replaced the parts and soldered the motors back but can i hell as like get it to fly now.
I've searched all web cant seem to find the issue's I'm having.
Basically all props are spins but it wont take off all it does is wants to spin in circles?? When I hand it in my hands move it sideways feel all the motors trying to balance it out etc.
So now I'm at a complete loss, not sure to just buy a new one or get this sorted out.

I was wondering anyone on here got good experience with these at all?

Check you have the correct props on each corner.

The frame and the props are marked 'A' or 'B'.

Front Right and Rear Left should spin clockwise on these, and Front Left and Rear Right should be spinning Anti-clock. (Just incase you've soldered the wires on backwards..)

I've just looked on the right hand side front an back says A on them and on the left front an back say B ? Think that's right

Front left and rear right are 'A's and front left and rear right are 'B's.

And there are letters on both the arm and the prop. They need match.

Front

A B
X
B A

Rear

A's spin clockwise, B's spin anti-clockwise. - they are pairs on the diagonals.

thanks I've changed the props correctly now but still won't fly? On full power all it does now is lifts the rear up off the ground by few mm that's it?? Could the motors be buggered?

Dazzler 01-01-2015 01:57 PM

Well the props could be pushed on too far, and binding on the motors.

Or, you say you've re-soldered the motors to the board. So you should check they are spinning in the right direction for the prop.

But It could still be props in the wrong place. I'd check again..

Can you post up a photo?

Hope this helps, also picture with full throttle on too
I've removed all props just gently pushed them on still the same issue.

yeah I did have to re solder the motors to the board but I followed a picture on the internet. I will removed the case and take a picture too.

what I've soldered up

Looking at your first pic, the front props need swapping with each other. And the rears too..

So I'm surprised you get any lift with that.

rights I've changed it now the blades are front left B Right A and rear left A Right B
it now does fly thanks but not very stable like before got a mind of its own even when you make adjustments on the trim. So I'm guessing it needs recalibrating's?

Have you seen the little letters on the arms by the motors? They're dificult to see. They need to match on both prop and arm?

Then once it's back together, confirm which motor spins in which direction viewed from above.

I'll upload two photo's, one to show both letters, one to show the props fitted. All should tie up together.

Props fitted.

Cool... Yes, try calibration. Bent, twisted or damaged props make it have strange charachteristics too. (Not surprisingly). Some are as subtle as the pitch on a blade has been tweeked in a crash.

Dazzler 01-01-2015 04:13 PM

Not got a video myself, but this seems to be a good example..

Give this a go.

Is it flying but drifting a lot, or does it not fly at all?
