Camping Stoves etc at Race Meets?
 

just wondering if them small camping type stoves you can buy for 20 are allowed to be used when attending the outdoor meetings - or do they pose an issues health and safety wise?

no idea if they are allowed but I would say they might understeer a bit on an astro track

Should not be an issue outside at all, unless maybe on farmers fields (e.g. RHR) with dry grass in height of summer on a windy day?

Indoors, I'd guess so.

i've one of these, used on many a campsite with no issues (other than buying the gas at campsite inflated prices)

yep those are the type I was thinking of - might get a card for that go outdoors place too, looks a decent shop?

a nice bowl of pasta or even a stew would go down well at a race meet me thinks :)

What type of gas you using, Brett? I seem to struggle with a loose rear when using these...

Just need a cook that can throw some bacon on at the start of your race downwind of the rostrum, guaranteed to put off your competition!!!

ahhh...so many people think it's just buy the right gas and get the performance,

I have found that on wide open flowing tracks that an extra sausage on the back gives then best downforce or even a couple of rashers on the front helps with initial turn in.

Might explain it. I tend to use a large pan with all the sausages, bacon and eggs over towards the front. I'll try spreading the load more.

As far as i am aware there are no issues or regulations on camping stoves at meetings loads of racers use them

What we ask is please take the canisters home with you and not deposit in our rubbish bins as when we come to deposit in large bin to burn at the end of a meeting they explode and not nice when 1 hits you in the head :woot:

yeah, the good old large pan, works quite well...

if it helps, I'll post my current setup for you when I get a mo, which includes factory team gas levels and all the soft bap mods i've done..

Just as an add on, don't forget how easy it is nowadays with the commonplace use of brown sauce - back in the old days we only had tomato ketchup and that would barely get you through a race, let alone a practice lap.

On a practical note, those gas stoves are easy and simple, but be aware that they are responsible for most camp stove injuries as they are prone to exploding - make sure you follow correct instructions and you should be fine.

Prone to exploding might be overstating it a bit, 30 years in various campsites (and wild camping) and I've seen one go. And that was a canister that the guy had left rolling round in his car boot for 6 months.

Oh, and the German dipstick who lobbed an "empty" canister into a fire pit.

Camping stoves? We cracked out the bbq this year for sausage butties n steak! :thumbsup:

I'm thinking bacon, sausage, egg, beans, mushrooms and a fried slice for my next body shell.

I might need to start racing in large scale touring cars to get it all in.
