540 class can i use a 19 turn spec motor?

Hi all, can i use an old brushed 19 turn spec (fixed timing) motor in the 540 class or do i need to buy a Saturn 20 turn?

Is the other option a 17.5 blinky?

Many thanks

Dave

Hi Dave

I don't think that a 19turn spec would be allowed as it's rebuildable and not 'sealed can'

You can run it in 2wd Mod and I bet that with the amount of slippy floor we seemed to have then it wouldn't be far off the pace as you just can't get the power down.

20T Saturns are only a tenner at most and the cars aren't to slow when combined with a 60c lipo and the perfect gear ratio:thumbsup:

The best thing to do is come and have a go, I bet there were 70 - 80 drivers
there on Saturday.

Hope this helps

Brett

Hi Dave,

I bit off a bit more than I could chew on Sat running 3 cars. Will be running in 540 for a bit as I loved thrashing the pants off my B4 but still not catching Jez.

Maybe next time.....

Anyway as for gearing,

B4: 28t Pinion 78t Spur = 7.243 final drive ratio

Jrx2: 25t Pinion 84t Spur = 7.324 final drive ratio

This seems a good balance of speed vs acceleration as I could clear the double jump like the mod class.

Cheers Brett

P.S. Can't go this weekend:thumbdown:

Most 17.5 blinkys are in 4wd cars, but there are a few running 2wd
