Slipper clutch
Hi, anybody had trouble with the slipper clutch loosening on the CAT? ...... i've had mine come undone each time i've been out. I've heard a whisper that some drivers are replacing the nyloc nut every few runs but that's not been confirmed by anyone i've spoken to. Just wondering if anyone else has had a problem?

Never had a problem with mine. Ive never touched it since I 1st used it and it hasnt loosened at all.

Make sure its not the screw coming loose on the spur gear side, that could be the issue mate.

no probs with mine

Def go with what Si said - i think we both suffered this odd times during the year. Loctite the screw for sure. Also I would recommend making sure you use a steel lock nut on the slipper - not sure what comes with kit.

I think it's a good idea to compress the spring once fully as done on associated diffs to set the spring down.
In addition you can give the steel ( I second you on that Matt) nut a good squeeze to further compress the nylon insert. No problems since. Cruise. |
Mine also comes loose. I sold my BJ 4 because it didnt have a slipper clutch. Cant believe the Cat suffers too. I have been told by a very respected team member to replace the nut after every meeting. |
One of the tips that Phil and the team do is to replace the screw on the gear side with a long grub screw threadlocked into place and then put a nyloc nut on that for maintenance.
I will try and get a pic. |
