Formula S2
Just had to try how well foam tyres worked out on carpet. Took some UFRA medium 1:8 tracktyres and made them fit standard rims. Unfortunately it didnt have any jumps and what not but the grip was amazing. In this tryout i had a much to small pinion since the tyres are way smaler than rubber tires. In the next run that problem was fixed.
I ran a Xelronin 6.5 and 6 cells. Could easily put something faster in the car since it preformed better and better with each run. The song is for Swedish ears only and its about how farmers get some action out there in their lonelyness:D. Heres a link instead: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KHErVSKQxd4 |
It's no surprise really. Touring cars, 12th scale, micro's all use foams on carpet to great effect. I made up some foams for my CAT SX from 1/8th scale donuts by Enetti and they are bloody superb on carpet! Wear rates are very low and the cost of the wheels are cheaper than a set of Schumy's mounted. The foams I use is close to the same size as rubber tyres so no need for changed gearing either. All in all I don't know why they are not commercially available as I think they are great for indoor racing.

1/10 nitros also works fine. Easier to find dounut style. Just have to glue two tires together and the cut for fitting the whole rear tyre.
