LIPO disposal advice

Last night my car stopped working 2 minutes into a race - checked everything and found the LIPO was reading 0 volts. I suspect that one of the internal connections had become detached when I was hit side-on (was racing touring car at the time).

I have no intentions of opening up the LIPO to check or repair it so I need to dispose of it. I have read all several articles on LIPO disposal, all of which tell you to slowly discharge the LIPO completely (using a bulb, salt bath etc).

The problem is that I know the LIPO is almost fully charged, but because a connection inside has broken I have no means of discharging it.

Its currently sitting in a LIPO bag that I have then placed in a metal cash box. Im worried that I may have a ticking time-bomb here so what would you suggest?

stick it in a bucket of salt water for a couple weeks an that should make it safe to dispose of at your local recycling centre

Yea, it will take a little longer due to it being fully charged.
