What's with 4wd?

I have just got back in to racing. And I'm quite surprised to see 4wd has died a bit of a deth.
I know 2wd has always been more popular but why has 4wd got so unpopular?

JohnM 25-09-2014 12:51 PM

Has it? We had more people in 4wd for our regional series this year then 2wd.

West Midlands region 80 drivers completed the series in 4wd:thumbsup:

Ok it sounds like my information is wrong then thats really good news that 4wd is still healthy

In the southwest it not so heathy we only have dozen racers so not so good!!

K-Brewer 25-09-2014 01:29 PM

ive found there's quite a few at regional meetings but when it comes to club nights more people choose to run 2wd

gordy 25-09-2014 01:54 PM

I bought a one run old b44.1 but have since found most round here run 2wd so im now considering putting it up for a swap for a 2wd which is a shame

andy-aj 25-09-2014 05:28 PM

B44.1 based 2wd? Then what you have already will be a good base to start with. Just an idea.

We have, probably, a 60/40 split favoring 2WD at YORCC. There are some that only race 4wd (me included) and some that only race 2wd and others that race whatever championship is running that night.

You sure? There are so many 4wd kits today on the market.

Agree, I also recently got back into RC hobby and found out there are still many 4wd kits available.

Maybe that's at your club or region - in the Netherlands 4WD has grown quite massively this season compared to the last!

4wd in the northampton / MK area is almost non existent but that is probably due to indoor astro where 2wd is almost as quick and needs less maintenance.

Same applies here in Dublin.
