Shocks

Advise on shock building please. At the moment I just rebuild filling the shock with the piston fully extended so 100% rebound? When and why do you change the rebound and what else should I be doing with the shocks? General advise welcome.

I'm driving a KF on high grip carpet with a few jumps.
