Is there anything special about the rango hexes as I know you can use rango wheels on an XB4?

Not really. They have pin that slots through them. Are the xb4 hexes the same then?

Yes the drive pin slots into a groove on the inner side of the hex and has a screw on the side to tighten up same as all the hexes I've come across.
