What is this made of?

Didn't know which section to put this in so sorry if its wrong!

Saw this mod and fancied giving it a go but cant work out what they've used!

What is the camber link plate bit, that has the shock tower mounted on it, made from? The square part with the four rows of hole if I've been vague.

That's black G10 fibreglass sheet, 6mm thick. Not the easiest material to find in small quantities and not cheap if you do find any.

I would suggest using acetal instead, easier and cheaper to buy in small quantities and much easier to work with.

Would acetal be strong enough? I've never heard of it so have no point of reference!

Maybe you heard of the material abbreviation, POM, or Delrin (a type of POM)? :)

The material is quite stiff, is quite strong (for material without fibre reinforcement) and has a low friction coefficient (so it's sometimes used for slider bearings and gears, too).

If you need some material to try it out, I have a 8mm thick plate (in white) I could cut a piece off for you.

As said above, delrin is more commonly known, it's a trade name for a version of acetal in the same way polycarbonate is known by the name lexan.

It is more than strong enough, any plastic part you find that has been machined is made of delrin, wishbones, gears, even the Centro 4.1 gearbox was machined from delrin.

Easy to find online in small quantities, and cheap offcuts are usually sold on ebay.

Ah OK I've heard of delrin! I will look into that then, sounds promising! That's good of you to offer, think that might be a bit thick though...plus I'm after it being black!

Why not try some carbon fiber that's cheep enough off eBay strong
, cheep and light.

That was my first thought but its supposed to be difficult to work with isn't it? Haven't got a good setup at home for tricky stuff!

I've inly worked with a few small parts of it I do know it's conductive so if your cutting it you can't use electric. And you need to do it outside and use a dust mask as It generates a lot of dust.
