4wd to 2wd conversion ideas

I see a few 4wd to 2wd cars about and was wondering what kits would be suitable to give this a go?

Any ideas on how to overcome the kick up needed at the front and adapting the steering mechanics.

I race on astro and would like to give kit bashing a front motored 2wd a go.

Any suggestions?

If you have a 4wd already, either take the front prop out or remove the driveshafts and just give it a go.
I've tried both the Schumacher k1 and the ansmann x4pro, which both worked quite Well probably even better with some more adjustments. Hth

I was tempted to get a cheap dex 410 and put a 210 front end on it, I saw one the Matt Owen did and it looked really good

Get yourself a purpose built kit: Xray xb4 2wd, Schumacher KF or look at XFactory X6S where you'll need and old B44 or variant plus a conversion kit.

I did exactly what you are suggesting with a B44 rear end and bolted an X6 cubed front end to it which is perfect with the kickup and steering mounts. I actually got to go pretty well but then abandoned it to switch to the X6 S kit which is awesome.

This was an early version. I later added back the front top deck (much modified) and cut down the rear top deck to allow more flexing.

I suppose you don't mean FWD?

I run an old yokomo: mr-4bc in 2WD with a shorty on the opposite side of the moter. The moter is far to the back and the pack also, but it works really well with the standard kick-up, and even the 4wd front wheels and tires are still on it.

Thanks for the ideas, that b44 idea looks good. It's not a FWD car that I'm after just one with the motor really in the centre of the car, or up forward.

I like the idea of the durango kitbash too and may give this a go if I can get the 410 bits
