BMAX4-III Steering crank posts fragile
Hi,
I was revisioning my BMAX-4 and I noticed the steering crank posts were broken, a bit above the end of the bolt that tightens to the chassis. Has anyone experienced this? How did you solve it? I'm thinking putting a slightly bigger bolt. Cheers |
yup. I've posted about this before. the screw ends at the same point of the bearing inside the steering crank. it creates a weak point, that sheers. I've used a longer CS screw. it may have been 12mm or 16mm. The post is not threaded entirely, so you hit the end at some point. use the longest screw you can.

Nice,
thanks Neal |

I replaced with 12mm CS bolts. original ones are 8mm. I think 16mm are too long. Shown are original 8mm bolts in the broken posts. The point of sheering is right at the top of the bearing. I think the longer bolts will stop this unfortunate fault. |
:wtf:

lol,
no, just regular driving. The car didn't become uncontrollable or anything of that sort. I just noticed the steering was a bit loosy. I was disassembling it to put some shims, when I noticed the crank posts were broken :P. I'll try the 12mm bolts!! |
