Has anybody had any experience with these cars?

Was looking at getting one for my son as his driving is improving rapidly!

There seems to be quite good parts support and this seems to be more of a race kit than the other version. The kit seems a steal at £90 and I have all the electronics.

Is this too good to be true or I are these cars up to club racing?

Thanks! I have read through it and that thread seems to refer to the plastic starter version. I'm more after thoughts on whether anybody has raced the carbon version or not.

I can see that this kit is the fully upgraded version, I have my own stuff to go inside it. But really need an opinion on whether this car can take club racing on a regular basis

I agree it looks like a good deal, but my personnal thoughts will probably mirror what has already been said - try to get a 2nd hand version of what others at your local club drive - that way if you have trackside problems there will be likely to be someone who can assist - whether it is a broken part, a strange noise or set up queries. I picked up a mint condition B44.1 FT spec car for £85.00 so there are good deals out there on the genuine race cars.

That said, the FTX looks good, reports say it runs well and opinions appear mixed as to whether it is robust in standard form, but generally agree that it seems stronger in pro form so if it is what you fancy then give it a go :-)

I mirror what ash says, for me the FTX are more for car park fun than competitive racing, I would look for a second hand schumacher or such as like he said help and spares trackside will be much easier, also something to consider is maybe look for a 2wd car, for someone looking to improve their driving 2wd improves driving skill and how to control the car, once you have that mastered move to 4wd and it will seem easy, 2wd takes car control to get around the track 4wd just requires power power and more power, plus in my experience 2wd is far more popular now at club nights.

You should be able to pick a nice SV2 up with a few upgraded parts for £100 ish on here or eBay
