210v2 lipos
what lipos are people finding best to use in a 210v2 shorty or stick lipo ?
|
Hi,
My personal choice has been shorty's for quite while now. I made up some foam blocks so that you can move the shorty either Forwards or backwards in the car which will give you a good weight tuning Aid. I generally run my shorty to the rear on lower grip tracks and to the front when on higher grip tracks to get some more steering. |
I use a shorty here, running 4rm, pack all the way forward.

Shorty and some foam blocks......

It seems for most cars if a shorty is used, drivers have to watch the weight (and often add it elsewhere) to make it run as they desire. It offers a nice adjustment feature for weight balance, but the overall weight it still needed.
Unlike most cars, the DEX210 seems to have that weight already. My 210 (in SWB) was a good 100g over the minimum weight with a short pack and bulky ESC (This layout weighs 1599g). I placed everything but the Rx and PT in-line with the chassis - The main reason is because my ESC is actually too big to fit in the sidepod or on top of the battery, but the nice side-effect is that as standard the weight is nicely along the centerline of the car, besides leaving space to put weights in the sidepods to change roll characteristics of the car if needed. If your ESC fits within the sidepods you can place it there and play with the front to rear weight balance instead. And with the 210's weight your concern with a shorty is not to get to the appropriate weight and adjust the balance - it's just to adjust the balance (with position of the shorty) - So in my view, Shorty it is! :) |

In theory it should make a fair difference as you are reducing the polar moment of the car, pulling a ~80gram speedo on a 1600g car out of the sidepod onto the centreline (maybe moving it 6cm?) should reduce the roll of the car in corners and also improve the response to steering inputs.
Just a matter of if i have room. Or inclination. (Or time!) |

Hi,
When the lipo is all way forwards I tend not to run extra weight at back. If I was running with lipo at back of the car I may consider putting either the 15 or 30mg brass weight under the servo. |
running the 65g bulkhead weight at the moment
