Wednesday night racing starting times?

Racers, we need your feedback, we are trying to figure out a starting time for racing for the proposed Wednesday night racing obviously we want to get as many rounds in as possible so would 6pm be too early? Or half 6? Obviously we want to race as early as possible but also maximise the number of drivers able to attend.
Please give your feedback

Hi Gav,

I might be tempted to say hold off till 7pm to get the best turn out. Anyone who turns up earlier can use the time to practice.

I wouldn't be to fussed about getting loads of rounds in, my initial idea was to get us out mid week, just because the tracks brilliant and hopefully we might improve with more regular track time.

I can't speak for others but I'd be happy with some practice, two rounds and a final. Maybe charge £3 - £4 and jobs a good one.

Maybe when the weather is excellent and we've got started at a good time we could squeeze in a third but we've got to remember it is mid week so getting home silly late isn't ideal so if you aim to be done by 9.30pm ish, again I'm sure everyone would enjoy it.

Only one mans opinion but hope it helps.

There is no working lighting in the cabins. That means you'll need at least some natural light left for clearing away.

I'd agree with Andy, 7pm would be a good time to start as it gives people more time to get there after work. I for one only finish work in Manchester City centre at 5:30 and at that time takes a good hour to make it to Bury so I'd imagine many of our racers would have a similar problem getting there for 6:30 if they work office hours.

During the coming months light isn't an issue in my opinion, it's been staying light til at least 9:30-10 o'clock over the last week so packing away shouldn't be an issue.

Realistically I don't imagine we will get more than 30 drivers regularly so that would be 3-4 heats so if we cut down the time between heats and rounds (or put it on auto) I'd say a round could be done in 30 mins so id say 3 rounds and final is easily possible before 9pm but to be honest we could easily race til 9:30 with the available light and have four rounds.
Obviously this can be changed if a lot more or less turn up but 3 rounds and a final is easily achievable.

To ease packing away/setting up we could either leave the track layout the same from the previous Sunday meeting so we can get straight on track to practice or leave the track out after the Wednesday night meeting for the following Sunday.

Just a thought,

Chris

Track set up wouldn't really be an issue as like you say we leave it out and I'd probably get down there before most as I work around the corner so I could even pop down after work set the track nip home and come back

I think 7 would work for most people.

So if we said booking in and practice opens at 6 racing at 7 would that be ok?

Sounds perfect to me.

Are you planning to trial one next Wednesday? As me and Callum could definitely make it.
