Big Belt conversion help
 

i have just fitted all the new stuff for the big belt conversion. ive got 36T front 37T rear 18T centre and the 369mm belts.

whats happening is its all gone together ok BUT when i clamp the spur down everything goes tight and notchy. the belts dont feel too tight and the tensioners are set correctly to the sheets you get.

Any ideas ??

pop the belts off the pulley and tighten down the layshaft/spur on it's own, if it is still notchy, then look into it further, if it isn't, turn the front and rear pulleys over, if they are free and notch free, look at the belts and belt runs for obstructions.

Check all the screw heads holding the belt tensioners are clear of the slipper plates, mine had the bottom(under spur) touching. Apart from that, is everything free running without the belts on?

everything runs free without the belts and if you back the 4 screws off that hold the slipper shaft bearings in place it frees up.

ive removed all the covers and checked the tensioners nothing is fouling.

i think it may be tension but they dont feel tight and the adjusters are set as shown ?

Mine are arrows straight down on the rear, not sure at mo on the front. Try one belt at a time and see if the problem remains?

This one was not adjustable but the other 2 were and the centre pulley was locking up on it. replaced it now and set the bearings. all running free ready for Sunday.
