While building my b5m today the front inner pins stuck out the back of the wish bones by around 10mm is this right?

they stick out the front slightly to go into the brace, but not out the back. The little screws should stop this. What is the length of the pins?

Are you sure they are the right pins for the front. you haven't got the rear in there by mistake?

The ones in all the others are all the right size and fit perfectly.

You're missing the front hinge pin brace (#91398) and your arms are on the wrong way. Page 6 of the manual.

As stated you've got arms back to front the little screws fit on the back side where you have the pins sticking out. You are also missing at least one sock ;)

Haha Im missing two socks. Problem solved! touch wood that the rest of the car is alright. Is it just me or are the turnbuckles very tight?

Yeah the turnbuckles are stupidly tight, put a bit of black grease on them to help

has anyone fitted the 8mm grub screws to the b5m yet? I've done it and it takes all the play out the hubs.

I fitted the FT alloy rear hubs to mine and didn't need to use the grub screws as everything was nice and tight.

After a bit of use my rear hubs are riding on the inserts so after i upgrade the hinge pin mounts i will need the grub screws then maybe i may add the hubs.

I got mine off eBay, £1,30 for 20. Can't moan really

I have some tips that are very useful.

The 2mm crush tube between the front axle bearings are too thin. This will cause the bearings to feel notchy. Not at first but later. Put a 0.2mm shim next to it inside to prevent this from happening.

In most cases you will run the 4mm trailing insert. Glue it stuck with super glue. This prevents slop and floppy front wheels. They are rather cheep so a couple of extras in the spare box does not matter that much if you want to try other trailing inserts.

Buy 2 of the longest ballstuds and replace the ballstuds on the rear hubs and use a nut on the other side to secure them more firmly. Even though you use loctite it can loosen and if you tighten the ballstud too hard it will deform its counter plastic part on the balls side in the hub.
