Low Voltage cut out for LRP Sphere
I have inherited an LRP sphere ESC. Seems to work fine, but I am worried that as it is a few years old, it doesn't seem to have a low voltage cut out to make it safe for use with LiPo saddle packs.
Can anyone advise how I install a separate cut off. I've heard talk about them, but not really sure what the are. Are these available? Would I be better getting a new ESC? |
If you are only racing for 5 minutes, the chances are you won't come close to the low voltage, especially if you are running 2wd.
However, these are available: http://www.cmldistribution.co.uk/cml...tId=0000006331 They solder to the battery side of the ESC and plug in line with the reciever and esc signal wires that would normally be plugged into the esc (hence the 2 receiver wires, one is a plug, one is a socket). When the voltage gets too low, they pulse the throttle and flash an led. If the voltage gets really low, the cut the throttle completely. At around a third of the cost of a reasonable esc whether it's worth it is up to you. |

Unless it is the older Sphere, with reverse, you should have a low-voltage cutoff.

I've turned my LVC off.
Just have a timer set on my Tx. Have it set to 8 mins (4wd) 10 mins (2wd) and 12mins (TC). Batteries usually come off at 7.75v, give or take. So if i do run for an extra couple of minutes after the timer buzzes me, no big deal. |
