Esc's for running Brushed Motors
I'm looking at running a Tamiya M05 at a local club on a Friday night.
When I used to run a M05 a couple years ago I used a LRP Quatum 3, but these are like rocking horse now to find and expensive to boot ! Can anyone recommend a good Brushed Esc, that has a lipo cutoff and maybe programable profiles Cheers for help ! |
I have been using a basic Absima ecu-1 ESC in my sons team c jeckyll witha 15t brushed Absima motor. Works a treat and has basic presets for different battery types including low voltage cut off.
Dead easy to use and very reliable so far!! |

For a fully programmable brushed ESC with lipo cutoff there's the Tekin FX and FX-R. Easy to set up using the lights but add the Tekin Hotwire and you can tune everything with a laptop.
For MRT ESCs, the only one with a lipo cutoff is the MRT MX TSX. Plenty of old brushed race ESCs around going very cheap, but none of them will have a lipo cutoff. For racing in a mini you are unlikely to ever get the battery low enough for a cutoff, and you can always add a separate lipo alarm or cutoff just in case. |
I retract my comments recommending the Hobbyking £7 esc. Yes it worked great with my 2400 Lipo but tonight I manged 5 laps with my 5000 mAh LIPO and then car stops + bad smell! - and that was running silver can in my M03!!!
