Orion r10

Does anyone no if it's worth trying to repair said speedo if you've connected it up to the batterys the wrong way round as I did today ?if so any recommendations of people ?

Orion r10 speedos have a diode in the capacitor so that should take the hit. That is assuming you're using the original Orion capacitor?

Did the smoke come from speedo or capacitor?

I have done this twice and both times I purchased a new capacitor and the speedo was fine.

I was hoping that too to be honest I'm not sure we're the smoke came from it happened so fast will the capacitor show any signs of ?burn marks?

If you take the capacitor out of the housing, there should be a little black diode on it as mentioned, if that looks fried then you should be ok to just swap to a be capacitor :)

You should be able to smell it. It normally smells really bad if it's blown.

Best thing to do is order a new capacitor, solder it on and try it. If it works, result! If not, you have only spent £16 or so.

Is it best to use manufactures capacitor or can I use any other versions?

You can use others but be carful as they dont all come with diodes. It's the diodes give you the protection.
