Gear Diff O Rings

HI

Silly questions but having some issues with putting my gear diff back together. Do the two o rings, sit around the gear housing or do they sit on top of it? If the sit on top of it, i have a real issue trying to get the thing together but the manual says thats the way it goes together? Ive put them around it and it fits straight on.

I ask as i found a pool of gunk underneath the gear housing and not a massive amount of oil in the gear diff.

Any help would be ace.

Here are some photos to try and explain what i mean.

Your first image is spot on!

The first image is correct. I did use a bit of green slime to make a even secure seal, after a few hours of run time it hasn't leaked.

Your first image is spot on, there has been found issues with the diff leaking, another way to stop it leaking is to get another "o" ring (3 total) to make sure the diff doesn't leak.

Good tip, I always assemble o-rings with grease to.

Are you definitely putting the screws in the right holes? Looks like theres a few burrs on the wrong holes

I'd also guess at screws in the wrong holes, as I did just that putting mine together (after years of racing 1/8th you'd think I'd know better :eh?:)

Yes, On the out drives I understand.

Yep, I got my kit a couple of weeks ago and it had extra orange o rings added in separate bags to the bags for the diff steps. Said on the pack that they caused more drag but we're less likely to leak.

I have recently purchased 2 AERO kits.

1 kit had the extra red o-rings the other kit did not.

An other tip when building diffs. Make sure no oil go's in the holes where the screws go. As you can blow the plastic out off the bottom or even split the plastic with the pressure build up as you tighten the screw's in.
