XFactory sign Phil Sleigh to the team

XFactory announced today the signing of their new superstar UK driver and oOple regular - Phil Sleigh, who'll be joining the team after a season with HotBodies.

U.K. star Phil Sleigh has signed with X Factory for the 2009 season. "It's an awesome opportunity to join the X-Team," said Sleigh. "Right from my first run with The New Math I couldn't believe that it was so easy to produce quick lap times with such ease and consistency."

31-year old Sleigh hails from Telford in U.K. where he is an IT Network Manager. He is a veteran of 18 years' R/C racing gaining his F1 license in '99 and running near the top of the pack ever since. Phil finished 7th in 2WD and 8th in 4WD in this year's B.R.C.A. National series.

X Factory president Chazz said, "We're so happy to add Phil to the X Factory Team. He's another experienced A main driver who has lots of great design ideas. All the other X Team drivers already get on very well with him, and Phil will provide that blend of top 10 ability and intellect that's so important to us."

Sleigh added, "I've just been with the Team a short time, and everyone has already been so helpful. Next season is going to be awesome, with the real possibility of X Factory cars being the most popular A main car in both classes. The feeling here is just different than anyplace I've been before. I'm part of the Family already and haven't even gotten all my stuff yet!"

Reached at home by phone, U.K. Champion Ellis Stafford sounded excited. "I'm so happy to be racing with Phil instead of against him, and we get on great. We looked at several possible drivers, and Sleigh is the one I most wanted for our Team." Chazz added, "The addition of Phil Sleigh rounds out our U.K. Team very well. We've got four of the best-known names in U.K. racing, and a great blend of youth and experience."

Look for Phil Sleigh's distinctive green X Factory shirt at the Indoor Finals, all the B.R.C.A. Nationals, the Belgian GP, and the Euros, as well as Mid West club races.

Green is the future!!! I'm sure Chazz will find a suitably bright t-shirt for the official shirt (available soon from all good hobby stores)

Press-release photo is of a mock-up t-shirt, photshop'd by a highly skilled individual.

I think we should all look to the athletic sport of Darts for inspiration for nicknames, there should be more nicknames in RC
