By alloy I assume you mean aluminium? And is it milling or turning you ate after? If it's turning I may be able to help all I would need is a drawing or a part to copy
|
Yes by alloy I mean aluminium I want a front diff housing doing like this

Well the gear caseing has gone out the window for a valid reason which I will share when it arrives but my new friend Tim at SOS-MMRC has done for me is these bad boys

Hi Justin,
Just seen your post. Were glad your happy with them, I should note that if we were to do them again I probably would recommend counter bores and cap head bolts rather than counter sinks as some of the countersinks did not leave quite enough material at the edge and it looks a little untidy. But hind sight is a wonder full thing. Anyway I look forward to seeing the pics of it all fitted, I'm sure they will still really nice in place. Speak soon. T |

Good stuff. Looking like it's coming together nicely now.

It is starting to Tim thanks but there are a couple of things I need you should get an email today so keep an eye out

My latest offering from Tim at SOS-MMRC some alloy front diff hangers and some carbon fiber pulley fences.

Those aluminium parts look great.I was wondering if it would be possible to machine some wheels for an XLS and polish them like the chrome ones.
|
It's worth an ask Tim copied the diff hangers from some new original ones I had. So if you can supply a template to work from or to save cost do the cad yourself if you can.
|
I can send a front and rear wheel to him no problem.
|
Worth a try his names Tim and his oople id is sosx. You'll have to let us know how you get on.

I am looking for someone who could machine a chassis plate for me from 7075 Aluminium. 3D files are available. Any suggestions?
PM to SOSx already sent, but no reply by now... Thanks Frank |
Looks too big for my Novamill but you could try Carl Lathom, alias bigred5765

I know just after Christmas SOS-MMRC's website was hacked and here in the process of sorting it out. Couple that with a big order on the main side of the business and I think he'd a little short of time at the min.

Hello
Hi Peakey and everyone else.
Sorry for the big lack of presence on the forum recently. I have always ran SOS-MMRC as an extension of my hobby and the last 6 months my main company/proper work has had a lot going on with staff changes and big new contracts, so the Custom rc side of things has had to take a back seat for a bit. Also as Peakey said had our website hacked by someone in china on new years eve. God knows why they wanted to hack us, I guess it was some Chinese youth doing it for practice or because they can.:mad::mad: Any way it has made we want to move hosting and give the site and update. It will go back online soon, hopefully looking a bit fresher:) Before I do any more custom work I have a long outstanding chassis to re-cut for another forum member who has waited patiently. Once I have that done I could possibly look at your chassis FMO. Major issue is I don't do enough alloy machining to warrant buying full sheets of material so generally get off cuts from a few suppliers. Getting 6082 t6 is easy enough most of the time but getting 7075 t6 offcuts in 2-3mm seems to be quite difficult and have only managed a few times. |
