JConcepts RC10 steering bell cranks on Ultima

They fit!

Or they will with some slight fettling :D

The old houge rc10 steering (that became the worlds steering) was sold by team pit stop as a ultima bellcrank set, the only differences were the drilling out of the holes and smaller holes for the ball joints.

Fitment on those look great! EBayers can keep their overpriced UM-14's:p

I just tried to screw a set of my Tamiya hex balls in but they are to large on the thread. I take it the RC10 ones are smaller on the thread and the ball?

Team pit stop used the houge setup and either drilled their own smaller holes or had houge do it. Your probably best off running rc10 ball joints as they are compact and the correct 4-40 thread. Alternately you could use a 4-40 screw thru one of the kyosho silver balls and it would work as well.

So I'll be buying 5 4-40 ball studs for the steering mechanism, question is will my Kyosho RB5 ball cups fit the Associated ball?

gomachv 27-02-2014 11:10 AM

That I cannot answer :cry:I am not familiar with the "new" stuff. I suspect being Kyosho that it would be metric tho

No RB5 ballends will not fit associated balls they are metric. Associated do a metric thread by 4-40 ball.

The RB5 are 4.8mm ball I think, the associated are 4-40 ball. This will allow you to fit associated balls in kyosho metric thread but the ball will still be 4-40 imperial.

Ok thank you for the advise. I've ordered RC10 4-40 balls and cups. I assume the Kyosho turnbuckles will screw into the Associated ball cups ok, since I guess they will be making their 'own' threads?

xfactor 27-02-2014 01:40 PM

I would of thought so, but maybe a little tight should be ok.

Thank you

Now I'd like to know if I can find better/stronger front knuckles!

gomachv 27-02-2014 02:09 PM

Try losi jrx2/t caster blocks and steering arms, should fit well. When Andys made arms the ultima and losi were the same with different size hinge pin holes

Then you can easily use losi/associated front bearings and wheels as well. The 4mm ultima axle is not the easiest to find wheels for

Thank you :D

I also have the complete rear end from a DEX 210 in rear motor format sitting around.

Hmmmmmm:drool:
