I use reventon pro esc 7.5 or 6.5 motor 83 spur and 21 to 24t pinion

But its personal preference with that as so many variables come into play.

Buy 2nd hand high end stuff if money is an object. A v1 nosram/lrp sxx is a bullitproof esc and can be had for £50 for a really good one. Then motor wise again good quality 2nd hand 8.5 7.5 are good buys.
I hate to say it but the stock class motors are more likely to have been geared to the max and prob are past their best. To get the best performance for those restricted classes. ( I'm sure there are exceptions to this) The modified especially in buggies are much less likely to have worked so hard as if you want more performance there is no rule stopping you upping the motor.
So to conclude my ramblings. Buy high end 2nd hand kit. It's better than new cheap stuff.

Lrp flow
Lrp x20 6.5 or 7.5

Nothing else to say

thanks everyone for the input, decided on 10/10.5 lowest turn, as i may well want to race next year in novice class, so what's my motor/esc limits so that i can remain legal?

the car specs are.....

associated b44, rudebits carbon lower chassis, atomic carbon towers front/rear, rpm ball ends, standard spur with 20t pinion, purchased car from ebay, fella is also a member here!
lipo saddlepack (4850mah, turnigy nano-tech, roar approved so it says), savox mg steering servo, core 3ch stick transmitter and reciever (also from a member here!)

looking ok so far?

There's no restrictions on motors and esc's. Only batteries, and that's only if you race brca events. Just need hard cased lipo's.
