Setup for Tf5 Shine? please help

Any good tip on a good standard setup for the TF5 Shine edition?

We dont have that version here in the UK so you may not get that many replies, especially from such an off road orientated fraternaity such as oOple

Fabs runs the Kyosho Touring cars I think?

I think he means the SHIN edition in which case Dave saul is the main man of the moment for uk tracks see the link in the last post for his set ups.

Well if you could tell me what surface and class you're running that would be a good help. As for Dave, erm I had a look at his setups and, you know, it's worth a try if you're running in a low power class, but I have serious doubts they'll work in 5-cell mod. He's done some weird stuff on these setups.

I run a 4,5 T Lrp/Vortex combo.
Track conditions indoor, carpet high grip and rough asfalt on
the outside track with medium grip.
But i Ran into a problem after finishing the build...
I noticed that the steering rods came in heavy conflict with one of the
the metal blocs that are holding the wisbones.
is this normal?
I followed the build as per the manual and everything was double checked
and I still have the same problem.

I take it you're running 5-cell then... Have a look at my carpet wars setup on the link above, it should get you started. One thing i'd change from that now that I know the car a bit better are roll centres, especially the front, I'd put even more shims under the rear suspension blocks. Maybe also try softer springs as this car has really high wheel rates compared to the rest, so whatever springs you ran on your previous car, I suggest you go one rate lower on the Shin (ex, I usually ran tamiya blues outdoors on my TRF, but on this I ran yellows).

As for the steering thing, once you'll have set the droop as per my setup it won't happen. I agree that it shouldn't happen but that's how the car is, all it does really is limit the amout of droop you can run at the front.

Fabs:
When I try to put on some 30mm foam tyres on the rear they touch the ball link at the end of the supension shaft.
What do you guys do to make them fit?
Do you flip the wishbone arond and move the suspension lin 1 hole further in on the arm?

( if you flip it you will se there are 2 holes instead of one)

What to do???
And will those changes effect handling?

Run rubber!

Fred79 09-10-2008 11:02 PM

Hard to go fast on rubber for a rookie like me :D

Better than cutting the car to pieces to try and fit tyres that were not designed for electric cars onto it. The Kyosho is built around 24mm rubbers and every mod you make on it to try and make wide foams work is a compromise.

Rubbers are much more rewarding to drive and because they stay the same size you don't have to spend half the race meeting adjusting ride height and gearing.

But if foam is what you want...
