Weight of DEX210 Gearbox

Hi everyone,

I've always thought the DEX210 gearbox was pretty big and pretty heavy. For my FWD Buggy I'm looking to get more specific data on it's weight and don't have any scales at home.

So the simple question is: Does anyone know what a complete DEX210 gearbox (ex. motor, pinion, shock tower, wing mounts, rear bumper) weighs? And do you know/recall if this weight is with 3- or 4-Gear and Ball or Gear Diff? :)

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi everyone,

I just remembered that last year when I needed to weigh a car of mine, I just took it took the post office! So that's what I did just now.

So to share with you the specs (if anyone is interested). I used a DEX210 Gearbox with:
- 4-Gear Layout.
- Ball Diff.
- Long Ball Diff Outdrives.
- Ceramic Diff Balls.
- 78T Spur Gear.
- No motor, pinion, shock tower, wing mounts, bumper, gear cover, pivot balls or screws related to fix these items.

The weight came in at 139 grams. I haven't got other gearbox weight data to compare it with now, but it might still prove a nice statistic for DIY'ers :)

I've compared the ball diff and geared diff before and the geared diff was lighter ... even with oil in !!

I haven't weighed them back to back, but I noticed that the gear diff felt lighter - thanks for the confirmation :)

Thats why when I ran stock for the first time (it happened to be at a big race) I ran the gear diff with plastic internal gears, it was fast :)
