If you know me - you know I have quite a collection of cars as I like to tinker...

With the advent of cheap gear from HobbyKing I could not resist getting a spare car kitted out with this 'budget' gear and having a run to see how I get on :)

Anyone got any top tips / setups for the esc - it would be appreciated as i'm used to my Vampire that's super simple - or my Orion's that are again dead easy - this thing has settings that I don't know what they are / how to use!

i quite fancy one of these:

I ran my new trackstar 17.5T motor last night in my 2wd and i was really impressed with its performance. super smooth, loads of torque, but could drive it full throttle and could really get the power down as it wasn't overpowering the available grip.

I got a couple of trackstar motors about 18 months ago, for the money they are unbeatable.

Still using both of them.
And just bought another for my 8th scale.

R/C Racing wouldn't be no where near as good if it wasn't for Hobbyking in my opinion! Fantastic value for money and just as good as the best stuff out there, it's nice to not have to spend a small fortune!

Ran the car today - electrics were great.
Just as good as my Orion esc's - very smooth and ran great.
Servo is quick and strong too although you can hardly turn the wheels when the car is off - not that it mattes I guess :)

Whats that Ansmann receiver doing in the car?! :p

A mate of mine uses one of their radios and cant fault it.

I too have caught the Hobbyking bug - so far have bought the Turnigy 120a turbo esc, a servo and the 17t sensorless motor. I can't fault any of it:thumbsup:

I quite fancy a punt at one of these:

Ansmann 3.1 reciever is one of only a handful that work with my Sanwa Exzes Handset :)
Like rocking horse ••it those are.

I did want look at going down the 'orange' module & receiver path from HobbyKing, but not sure if / how it would all work :(

I have been looking at those blue FHSS receivers that look identical to the Code/Etronix ones - has anybody been able to test them with an Etronix Pulse as they are £15 cheaper!

I tried the futaba orange module and it wouldn't bind with any of my surface receivers, even the orange ones.

Hobbyking stuff is great...... as long as you knoe exactly what you are buying.

That looks a lovely setup, what voltage are you running the servo at 6v or 7.2v? If at 7.2v did you go direct to battery or via an external UBEC?

I have had a ton of trouble trying to run my savox 1257 at 6v with the castle sidewinder ESC, tried the CC BEC but made the throttle glitch so bad I couldnt drive it so cut the bugger out and now run it on 5v off the speedo :(

I have a hankering for some hobbywing stuff after browsing the hobbyking site, seems daft why people buy top brands if this stuff is as good, its all silly cheap compared to the big brands and looks great!!

Thanks
JK
