Kyosho Lazer ZX-S
 

Hi Lads,

Here's my newly acquired ZX-S (not the one Nick recently advertised).

It's an original with the kit Losi shocks and Yokomo wheel adaptors. I also have the unique numbered owners card.

The original lexan is so thin so I'll be putting a kamtec body and tray on it.

I'd love to see a pic of the underside of the chassis at the front kickup area

Also, are the rear arms flipped over as I see the bottom of the shock is mounted on the outside of the arm rather than in the cutout

Thats how this car is designed with reversed wishbones. Original kit came with losi shock, yokomo wheel adaptors and wheels, zxr ujs, zxr wishbones, zxr steering, zxr front castor block & knuckle arm, zxr rear hub, zxr belts and diffs, zxr wing mount and a one piece chassis with no servo mounting holes, so yokomo yz10 similarities. This was a better battery layout than the evo.

Wow! - I've never seen one of these before (or never been aware of them) - but why the Losi shocks?? They are good shocks - but IMO Kyosho's own shocks were/are just as good or better?? Also what was the working relationship between these companies - one wonders if this collaboration laid the foundations for Gil Losi Jr's move to Kyosho when Horizon brought Losi?

So are the wishbones the wrong way around on mine?

Yes, they were reversed on the ZX-S, and it is something we were already doing on earlier Lazers as it shifted more weight over the rear axle.

Because the Losi hard body teflon coated shocks were better than Kyoshos at the time and for something with a limited production number Kyosho chose to buy them in instead of developing new shocks for it.

There wasn't any, just like there was no relationship with Yokomo either for the wheels.
For its replacement, the ZX-S Evo, Kyosho used their own shocks and hex drive wheels.

Apologies, didnt notice. Thinking about it possibly yes. I may have made a cock up and as i was doing a different layout on mine so may have swopped them around on yours by mistake.

As Terry said but the 200 evo buyers did have the option of choosing the losi shocks if they preferred. As these versions were only sold in Japan they could do this. Small numbers were due to them not opting to sell it as kyosho needed a quick sale kit so changed the design to a shaft drive, so basically the zxs was a test bed for the zx5

No problem as I have a NIP set of the graphite version of these arms (the cutouts where the shafts pass through are slightly different it seems so they aren't quite identical though interchangeable) that I will be installing along with anodised gearbox and chassis poles, blue anodised nuts, ZXS-EVO shocks and rear sway bar once I get some KC-18 arm stoppers anodised

The velvet shocks and the wishbones on the ZX-S will be going on the new tub when that turns up and I start building it

I also picked up a genuine ZX-S sell, just need the wing now and not sure if I would ever find a genuine sticker set for it.

The zxs shell wont fit the tub but will on your mid but the dragon shell on your zxs is original and not kamtech. Genuine sticker set ive got but you do realise the ones on ebay arw a copy of mine. Still i can trade a sheet with you for something if you need it.
