Is a motor fan needed for outdoor track blinky class
 
Hi just woundering people opinions, on the need for a motor fan in the 17.5 blinky TC class.
Many people use them but are they needed, are any performance advantages seen.

I asked one of the driver's from last year's Clubmans Championship - His Reply 'Always. Mainly for after the run to help stop the heat soak.'

The cooler the speedo the less power lost to heat so it will be an advantage in the stock / blinky classes. You might not be able to use that advantage, but it is there! :)

Thanks for your replies, different opinions and ideas on the subject, which is interesting.
If I was to use one what can people recommend ?

You will see virtually everyone using a fan. They don't make much difference to performance but they don't do any harm. Most people are now using 40mm fans, mine is from Farnell (the electronics distributor) but you can buy RC branded ones from various sources (Wild Turbo Fan, Demon etc...)
