Bosscat with modern set up?
Hi all,
I intend to run my car at my club in the 'normal' heats, so not in a vintage class - I know I'll need lots of spares :D But I intend to run a brushless set up. Assuming the diffs and belts are alll good, what turn of motor would you recommend?I was thinking around 7.5t? Also I wouldn't mind an up to date set of shocks, would the Schumacher big bore go on without too much trouble? Cheers Ryan |

I'll be interested to hear what others have to say about motors but I opted for a 8.5 for my ProCat runner to give the belts and diffs a chance.
In the picture the car has a period option slipper but I've since made a custom on that takes modern Schumacher slipper pads and spur. I'm running Schumacher small bores which fit fine and work great. I'm not sure if big bores would fit but I prefer the small bores anyway even on my KF. |

Does look good Nigel! I like your method for fitting the saddle packs - i'm intending to do something similar but for a shorty LiPo (so I can use my existing batteries) & poss build in some sort of adjustability fore & aft?
I reckon an 8.5 is about right - but a slipper clutch has got to be a must to save the main belt from slipping - brushless motors provide more torque rather than necessarily more outright speed which is what we need to protect out transmission from. P.S; think I need to find myself a set of small bore Cat SX shocks also! |
Thanks Dan.
I made adapter plates to fit SV2 saddle trays so I could use the existing holes in the chassis. Didn't want to drill my original chassis. A shorty layout would work well an I may go that way eventually as I now have shorties for my KF race car. This is quite an early pic actually. Since then I've added the custom slipper as i said, home made carbon ball raced steering assembly and a custom GRP rear shock mount. Need to get the new shell painted too but struggling for inspiration. Want a period look but not box art. Anyone got any old pics of good paint on early CATs? |

Same as Nige, I ran an 8.5t in my procat/cat thing..
Main problem I found was slippage on the front pulley, but it went ok... I have loads of Bosscat bits if you need anything, basically three cars stripped down in a box... |
What are those black rims guys?

Black rims from these chaps... http://www.jcracingproducts.co.uk
