K1 Aero setup help

Can any superstars help me with this.

Compared to my normal K1 my aero has bugger all rear end grip on low grip surfaces.

I know the geared diffs may be the problem. I am running 12k front and 7k rear. Core 400wt front and 300wt rear. Other than that the car is stock. I generally find with all schumacher cars the stock settings about right. I have run the car three times now and yesterday the car bordered on undrivable. Surface is polished gym floor (benfield).

Shall I go back to ball diff in the rear?

try thinner diff oil, use 7k front and 5k rear

Had the same with my K1 and found grip when I moved the shocks inwards both front and rear.....we run Yellow Minispike on polished wooden floor and takes an evenings racing until they give their best.......
Do you run anti roll bars?
Agree with the "thinner" diff oil too.....

Hi dragonmount74,

its a pity you didn't come over on Sunday at Benfield. I too had a brand new Aero, and by the final, had it going really well, ... just not fast enough to catch Rich Coates for the win.
I ended up with pretty much:
Longest links all round
Rear inner ball stud 3mm lower
Front inner ball stud 1.5mm lower
Medium wheelbase
Alloy rear blocks with front high spaced down 3mm, rear low.
Rear shocks: Green core spring, 400wt, 3 hole drilled to 1.65mm
Front shocks Green core spring, 450wt, 3hole
Geared diffs on 20kwt oil (could've done with being a little lighter)
Car felt great, and I was on minipins, which seemed a little more slippy than spikes.
Rear antiroll bar (seemed to make the car less grip grip grip grip suprise break loose, and more a consistent slide round the really slippy corners)
No brass weights

Thanks Chris
Did you also find the car very loose at the rear?
I was using spikes as last time they seemed the way to go. It was just disappointing to go backward as the day went along.
I will try your tips as well as trying a ball diff in the rear.
Cheers Alex

I ran the car last night with new ball diffs front and rear. I also drilled the rear pistons to 1.7mm with 300 oil. I also reverted to a standard wing.

Car was perfect. Million times better. Not which of the above made the most difference but I reckon it was the diffs. Happy now:thumbsup:
