Bringing stuff back from USA??

Ok guys i am of to USA in september for 3 weeks with the misses on our honey moon... Question is ?? Could this be a opertunity to pick up a bargain Team 1/8 buggy kit? If i bought it out there for myself and packed it in my suit case surely i will evaid dreaded import duties? No??

In the past people I know have got away with one kit on the way home, maybe ditch the box and just have bags, then you would have to meet one big time OCD inspector on the way back in. but also depends what else is coming back in your bags as well, loads of goodies and they may take a look:D

Hiya I posted this on a previous thread.

I do this a lot as I travel to the US every month. It is considerably cheaper but very hard to find good shops near where I am travelling. What I do is order online from Amain or RCtech for example and get it shipped (often for free to my hotel or office in the USA). I can then pick it up when I get there and bring it back in my luggage. If I am going to buy something big, I often bring an extra soft bag with me to pack extra stuff into.

The current customs duty free limit for flying commercial is £390 per person, which gets you quite a lot of stuff - currently $642 worth. (it is less - £270 - if you travel by private plane)
