Trying to find a wing stay and bodyshell to complete the tomy intruder.

brings back memories. I used to run one for Tomy a long time a go, I replaced the kit wing stay with the yokomo one from the YZ10

Found up a couple of photos of mine from a long time ago at medway, the tarmac off road track:D

It went really well,had some good results won the EPO 4wd club championship with it, but I gave it up as there was as good as no backup I just ended up putting more and more yokomo parts on it. And in the cold the plastic was sooooo brittle you had to be very carful with it, as it would shatter the wheels just landing a jump:cry: it was made of pure plastic, just like Tomy toys:lol:

I think those photos were from the last time I ran it, I changed to a boss cat as soon as they came out, and I think I collected the boss cat at the meeting these photos were taken. Shame I had to give the car back as it would have been a great on to put in the loft

Think that was my plan back in the day , bought it built it and never used it About 22 years ago. Dug it out recently with the intention of finishing it .

blimey not seen one of them for years, was it the yokomo dogfighter, or is that just another name for the YZ10?

Hmm a body shell could be a hard thing to track down in the uk as there were very few of the cars running and they only produced the intruder for a very short time before binning the idea, the adonis was released but I never saw one. Keep your eye on ebay world wide as I have seen a surprising amount of bits for these show up over the years. I did used to have some parts left, wheels and instruction books etc, but I bayed them a few years ago, they sold faster than the PB mustang parts I was selling:woot:

Nice photos , reminds me of the kit I had . Still got the fold out table and chairs , sold my kit box like that in a moment of madness along with everything else. Then bought the tomy but that was as far as the come back went , until now.

These were very good cars, I remember nick racing one in the welsh league and almost beat me at a couple of events, car was very stable.

Try the guys at tamiyaclub...I found bits including wing stay over there!

theres a yokomo dogfighter on Ebay in case you can rob any bits from that?

I thought they were identical cars, maybe Im wrong, but maybe it will help? :)

Just a reminder that the tomy intruder was re done some years back my the company called m1. They were based in Stafford and the car was called the striker. They were mainly touring car guys but they did do the buggy. I had one. It was a full competition car with carbon and stuff. I preferred the tomy intruder over the yokomo and kyosho I ran at the time. I once had one made from alloy anodised in different colours. Every part was alloy and I mean every part. It was bought through Right Track Models from a rep. Shame I sold it.

Hi Adey, WOW - I knew M1 brought out the Tomy design & that the Striker was the resulting touring car but I didn't realise that they (re)produced the buggy & that they were UK based... was 'Express' something to do with them too??

After the closure of AYK, the first remote control model producer TOMY became Sun Sun?s major sales channel. Its sales of INTRUDER competed highly with the similar product of LAZER. Subsequent to the growth phase of product life cycle, TOMY closed the production line and sold all components and accessories to Sun Sun that nourished a new life ? GTO. Because of GTO, Sun Sun started to produce spare parts and accumulate experiences on design of car base frames, hence to allow Sun Sun to move forward to manufacturer of remote control cars.

I have the penguin repro on mine from Steve, it's a good fit and looks great.

Yes the express was the touring version. The buggy was far from
Perfect. No clutch, carbon fibre so thin you could see through, wishbones so flexible and soft they made basic tamiya plastics look sturdy and shocks that you wouldn't upgrade your tamiya hornet with.

It might have been far from perfect but it was still fantastic package. I raced one in the Scottish Champs (1990?)and loved it. Mine had a fair bit of the alloy bling added which was beautifully made. Super stable car that certainly caused a shock or two!

Just to clarify that I was referring to the m1 version. I had the tomy intruder and it was far better than the m1 version. Anyone want the intruder re released ???? Lol. I would buy one .
