Lee martin Debuts the Yokomo bmax4 III TQ and win (Video)

Lee Martin's debut A-final win with his new 4wd Yokomo BMAX4 III ride, at the Worksop Indoor Masters Round 3, Schumacher's UK Winter series.

In a field of outstanding drivers, including former world champion Neil Cragg, Lee dominated all day. He took perfect scores in all four rounds and finished the final with a comfortable lead over second place man Neal Cragg driving his associated b44.2.

It was a pleasure to watch Lee all day, feeding the Yokomo into corners so early and sliding perfectly to the apex. Nobody could touch him today.

Awesome driving. Hopefully his set up will be up soon.

Incredible driving - amazing how much quicker he looked than lots of other very quick drivers.

jsw123 06-01-2014 10:23 AM

That's just ridiculous. Is he that much quicker or is the car that good?

I'd say both.

From what I hear he really likes that surface so would likely have done similar with any of the top brands of car.

I really do fancy the Yokomo after watching him though. It looks so controllable when sliding. I like to (attempt) to drive like that too :)

andys 06-01-2014 01:29 PM

Danny - I reckon he was just lucky.
Car looked out of control sliding around the corners like that - he got off lightly if you ask me - needs to slow it down a bit :)

AfroP 06-01-2014 01:30 PM

he makes it look so easy lol

what was also quite surprising was that at one point in the video he'd lapped somebody and on the straight didnt seem to be as fast as them as they made the ground up very quickly

brooksy 06-01-2014 01:42 PM

Accuracy, corner speed and consitance. The key words for me when you watch the likes of Mr Cragg and Mr Martin. Car didn't look as quick as some on the straight but the speed at which they get the car around corners is just amazing to watch.

Let's not forget Lee is human......he didn't even get to the end of the straight in practice without his wheel falling off:p

Amazing to watch though, hope he does the rest of the series:thumbsup:

Haha. It was more impressive in person too mate. He was literally turning into the corner yards before and controlling the slide. I'll show you how to do it at chadderton :p

You could certainly see him 'sliding' into the corners in the video - good vid by the way.

Yeah he did make it look easy, pretty amazing throttle and brake control. I qualified 16th and he was about 1.5 secs a lap faster than B final pace all day. Must be 3 or 4 secs a lap faster than the lower finals. Impressive on a 20 second lap! He manages to get the power down quickly without the car getting out of shape and barely misses an apex during a drift. Definitely not as easy as he makes it appear in this video. All of the other A final drivers here are UK top 20 pace. Well done Lee.

Great vid mate

Seen Lee drive a couple of times and it truly is a joy to watch, makes it look so easy its sickening !

Vid looks like he had good punch off the jumps/out of corners so maybe traded off abit of top end for that ??

I noticed that also Lee's car seemed super rapid out of corners and over the jumps. The section from where drivers wait to the main straight was very noticeable.

A couple of years back when Bloomfield won the indoor National everyone commented how 'slow' his car was down the straight. However, this meant he was able to carry full speed around the sweeper without backing of or breaking and in fact pulled 2-3 meters on most other top lads. I constantly tell club racers that their car is just to bloody fast. Myself included lol

Awesome drive Leeroy ;)

Was allways told one straight and 10 plus corners, make your time up by having the power not just top end, lee makes it look easy tho

Briangb 07-01-2014 01:52 PM

I have had the pleasureof watching Lee on several occassions. Professionals at the top of their game do tend to make it look 'easy'.
Don't be mislead. What you are seeing is the result of many years practise and application. Lee came so close to winning the world championships last year.
So, he is without doubt one of the best in the world.
Apart from being very approacable, he is very focussed on what he wants to achieve.
Well done Lee on the first of many wins with your new ride.
