S2 Rear Shock Mounting

Hi,

Hoping someone can help on how to mount the rear wishbones/shocks on the Short Wheelbase S2.

I've put most of the kit together, I have a question on the rear shocks, if I mount them behind the rear shock tower they have to be at quite an angle forwards to be mounted onto the holes on the wishbones? But they also won't go on the front of the shock tower, as then they'd be at an angle rearwards. I used the spacers as suggested in the letter included with the kit to push the wishbone to the rear, and the wishbones are angled forwards (I guess this must be correct as the shock mounting holes are on the back). from where the wishbone is grooved to miss the diff outdrives it looks like I should move the wishbone forward, but then I would definitely have to put the shocks on the front of the tower?

Any chance someone could let me know the best way of mounting everything based on how they've done it? Or even post some pics?

Dave

Cheers mate, looks like it, certainly gets it close enough for a little spacer to do the rest!

Not entirely related - but close enough:

I feel oversprung at the back, with red springs on. However am wondering if I have the right length shocks/springs!?

I am using the middle of the three lengths of shock I think Losi do (correct me if I am wrong!) on the rear, with short on the front, is this correct? Or do I need the longest type of shocks on the back? What length springs do I need for it, I am using ones from the longest type of shock and I am wondering if this is why it feels so springy (too much pre compression!!

sounds ok to me.

you want the shocks off the back of a XXX on the back, .9" body and 1" shafts, with the long springs.

red springs are for high grip, typically carpet with minipins.

I ran mine on pinks nearly all this year.

Maybe you are underdamped?

Where are you running the car and I'll give you a quick setup for it

Its for Worksop, I've got long red rear springs on and 30wt oil, I think with blue pistons. Same on the front but silver springs (and short obviously!)

Is that an update? Are the S2 sporting a shorter WB now?

That sounds a bit under damped for worksop, I would think orange pistons in the back, maybe even 35wt oil aswell.

Doddy has a good setup for Worksop, although it has monster steering.

I prefer a slightly understeery car, so I run 35wt, red piston, green spring on the front. And 30 wt ,orange piston, pink spring rear.

Id stay start with what 35wt, red piston, silver spring on the front. And 30 wt ,red piston, pink spring rear if you have the swb car. If you need any help/advise on sunday just give me a shout.

Thanks!
In which part has the car been made shorter? How is the WB now vs, say, a B4?

I think the chassis was shortened by 8mm and the wishbones were moved backwards by 4mm.

This makes it a couple of mm shorter than a B4 but the driveshafts have been straightened significantly.

& it made a huge improvement to the car
