Blue Thunder; The blue Javelin

Well here is my next project; "The Blue Thunder", the blue Javelin.
Will feature full black anodized or carbon fiber chassis(have not decided yet) with blue parts and a blue cage, possibly alloy anodized in blue.
It will have a Le Mans 480S blue motor, blue AE B4 shocks and alloy blue wheels that need to be purchased.
More updates later, most probabbly next year ;)

At least one of your builds needs carbon and I find blue anodizing goes best with Carbon, as may eventually be demonstrated with my "Turbo Optima Mid Evolution" project

You are right, anodized blue and carbon fiber is a killer combo. So I ordered the carbon parts from Fibrelyte and ordered the blue annodized wheels from ebay.
After placing the order with Stephen from Fibrelyte's I noticed that he actually dont carry the shock towers for the Optima. I really want everything possible made of carbon and I have seen those carbon shock towers before, so the question is; Where do people get those carbon fiber shock towers from?
Or do anyone has a CAD for those towers? I could do the CAD myself but I am in a tight spot right now in respect of free time :(

Merry Christmas!

HKS_TRD 26-12-2013 02:04 AM

If he doesn't have the shock towers on file you can always send him a pair and he will do a drawing and make them. You would probably want to do the turbo towers rather than the MKI towers

Which wheels did you get?

Also you may want to consider alloy wishbones like the Pargu ones anodised blue for an extra touch

I sent him a pic of the towers, hopefully he has the files already.
The wheels and tires I bought are these(attached pic), they will look nice with the build and look different than the Green Monter's.
The arms are a good idea, but I dont want to go "too blue" if you know what I mean. I think is important to keep a balance between the black's and blue's, dont you think?

PS: Has anyone here has had any experience with Pargu? After placing the order on his site I did a little research on his service and the results were not encouraging. Apparently the shipping time and communication is in the negative side...

Pargu is actually very good.

He's been selling for a long time.

His English is not great so that may partly explain communication issues.

I've ordered several parts from him. Top quality and good value for money.

Yes, I agree just used him for the first time and parts came no problem.

Small update;

Holiday season finally ended here in PR (longest holiday season in the world) and now I am finally regrouping some projects and resuming work at the shop.
Some parts for the Blue Thunder project arrived and have to say that I am getting more and more anxious to start the buildup!!!
Here are some snap shots of the wheels, shocks, carbon wing and the Le Mans 480S motor that are going to be used for the project.
Stephen from Fibrelyte send me the complete carbon fiber conversion parts, they are on their way also, anxiously waiting
There's a big project from one of our big clients just around the corner that might give me a handsfull till the Summer and put a halt on ALL RC related stuff, I just hope I have all the parts and time to finish the Blue Thunder before then... Let's see.

Naushad, I wanted to ask, did Pargu ever contacted you with shipping information of some sorts? It's been several weeks since the order and I have sent him several emails and nothing, no reply, no tracking number, nothing. I dont even know if the parts were shipped or not  Is happening to me exactly what I read that happened to others that dealt with him... not happy with that.
I feel I might need to start and get ready to press the panic buttom on the Paypal claim department :(

Pargu did not contact me about shipping. The parts just showed up one day when I almost had forgot all about it

Where did you get the carbon wing from?

Last night I started building chassis #2, it is currently at about 70% done.
This chassis will be for mine to keep and it will feature a Option House racing clutch, hard final pinion inside, earlier B4 shocks (full blue without the bottom cap) and probabblya one of those small alloy bumpers that are on ebay.

Both rollcages will be made of aluminum with the same blue color as the chassis parts and most probabbly equipped with carbon fiber roof and carbon fiber number plates. The inner roll bar will be blackened or probabbly covered with carbon look laminate, so everything will be either dark carbon fiber/black or blue ;).

More updates later... if I have spare time tonight :(

Looks great! I'm always a sucker for blue and carbon.

What are the shocks on the first chassis and have you got a link to the small metal bumper on eBay that you mentioned?

Thanks!
Both chassis have AE B4 shocks, chassis #1 has the newer style.
The bumper are these (attached pic) but I can't find them in ebay right now, looks like the auction ended, they do show from time to time.
BTW I did not anodized the blue parts, they are color matched to the wheels and shocks. I decided to do that because anodizing the roll cage suscessfully proved to be very hard with the Green Monster. The welds on the roll cage do not get the same color as the rest of the cage and it gets even worst with lighter colors, trying to get everything perfect would turn out to be very time consuming and frustrating so hence the desision of just coating it.

Finished!!!!! I will upload some pictures shortly.

OK, pictures!

Here is Blue Thunder I and his evil twin Blue Thunder II. Blue Thunder I is destined for ebay, II is for me :D.
Both are the same, but II has the limiting clutch and some extra blue bling. #2 also needs the wing which I did'nt order it because I wanted to know how the one I ordered looked liked before taking the jump and buying two, well it looks GREAT, so now I will be ordering another one. It also needs arms which I borrow for my Javelin Mid project so now I need to buy for it.
I desided to go the steel cage route since it did not make much sence coating an aluminum one. I am also debating whether or not to add the numbers to the number plate... I guess it will be only be a black and blue theme for now, not numbers.
Well enjoy!:)
