series three in clubman
 

So then chaps, what is everyone going to be running after the christmas break ? i shall be racing my newly aquired TA01 in the hope that it will actually go in a streight line compared to my TL01 which is better suited to drifting.

Are we all going to be racing our christmas presents or sticking with our tried and tested vintage cars ???

'twas an excelent nights racing last night in the clubman class and as a class it seems to be rapidly becoming the most popular of all the classes currently being run at WBMCC !!! :thumbsup:

Given that you can't race a bag of ashes I think I'll be sticking with my vintage Tamiyas!

For me I will be going between the TA02 and my newly restored F103 (when the tyres arrive from Hong Kong anyway).

Really enjoyed last night too - was shaky in the qualifiers but then had a blistering final, its amazing what Loctite can do to a cars' handling :thumbsup:

Was an ace night agreed, the FF03 did me proud even though my heart was bouncing out of my chest ...:drool:

I'm happy to follow suit with what ever others are doing and will gear top speed to fit in with everybody else ...

I would like to get the TT02 Carrera working as I have little experience with 4wd on the carpet, at the moment it is bog standard apart from shocks and tyres, will probably put the 13t brushless from my FF03 in it.

Ive learned much this year, most of all - top speed does not always win but a well setup and predictable car will not only get you close to the top but is much more enjoyable that flat out / brake / flat out brake ...

Thanks to all that have helped me with setup and tuning and general advice this year. Im learning.

Your FF03 was flying! - I managed to keep ahead of you for 3 laps but when I made a mistake you passed me and were gone.

Having you guys here on a friday night has really lifted the clubman class, its great to have a bunch of top blokes with such passion for Tamiyas - so please keep coming!

There will be no racing next week but we will be back friday 3rd January.

Do you have to run a Tamiya or can it be anything oldish,
I used to race an hpi sprint and it's about the size of a mini,would live yo go one up off the bay and come and join y'all :)

I'd say anything oldish, which is similarly paced. So a Sprint would be fine.

Are you allowed to run foams in Clubman? :blush:

I am sure some people will say "please not again!" But....... What are the rules for clubman? Can not decide on stock buggy or clubman in the new year........

Yh foams are allowed in clubman.
Most drivers use 13t bl or slower and are mostly tamiya chassis.

As with stock buggy : 13.5bl zero timing or similar brushed and venom white slicks.

Foams are allowed but they grip like poo to the sole of your shoe when on a Tamiya chassis (as I discovered last night) plenty of superglue around the sidewall sorted it.

Does that 13t brushless also fit with F103/4?

Do you all run blinky in clubman?

Not necessarily blinky -i did increase the timing but killed a gearbox in an FF01! most F1s are running silver can brushed, thats what i've put in mine for the new year.

Yeah anything faster than silvercan in an f1 and it kinda spoils it for everyone else.

Kind words Chris ... Would not trade the clubman for all the tea in china. With regard the F1 we've tried 21.5 brushless etc and to be honest they are much easier and enjoyable to drive with kit motors and kit gearing .. My 6 wheeler has a stock setup and is much more forgiving the F104w with brushless, you may struggle to keep the back behind the front with 13.5 and the lack of grip the carpet serves up :-)

The beauty of the clubman is the feeling you get when you do well due to driving and not by straight line speed. Winning due to have straight line speed is a hallow victory ;-)

I love the Tamiya tourers but will happily run my 6 wheeler to enhance the experience Chris will get when he gets his sorted.

Good job WB - clubman rocks, I look forward to it every week. Win lose doesnt matter as long as you look good doing it and its friendly and enjoyable.

Scott - what pinion are you running on your F103?

I'll have a look, but I think - 68 spur and 14 pinion -- that's kit .. but it depends on the height of you foams ....

I was running a 14T pinion on my F1 with the standard spur and a 27T motor. Same as I run in the Jaguar with a 13.5T brushless.
