BMax MR2 Gear Box

My gearbox destroyed itself today. At least one metal idler gear is trash, the diff gear and the gearbox casing (one of the transmission case holes that one idler shafts fits into is distorted. I suspect a bearing breakdown caused the idler gear shaft to melt the plastic in the housing and then the idler gear and diff gear took each other out.

Has anyone else had this happen?

I see there is a HARD version of the gearbox casing - so I assume this is made of a more resilient material??

Never heard of such a thing, you are probably right about the bearing failure. The hard gearbox will most likely not be more heat resilient than the standard one, but stiffer to give the rear end a more direct feeling on high-grip tracks.

Bearing failure is due to poor maintenance and nothing else.
Not the design of the buggy.
